BLINK-182

To me, Blink-182 is definitely one of the most creative, interesting sounding bands that I've ever listened to. Besides the fact that they've been loved and listened to since 1992, Travis Barker (even though he wasn't a member of Blink-182 until after 1997, when their first drummer Scott Raynor left) survived a plane crash that could have been fatal. That's gotta mean something! They're also probably one of the greatest bands because while most bands struggle to find a label that will sign them, Blink-182 had been signed and released their first album in 1994 after self-releasing a demo called Flyswatter in the fall of 1992. They were also included in Warped Tour, one of the best music scenes that you could be part of. Also, in 2000 their album Enema of the State went multi-platinum world wide, and won them the 2000 MTV best group video for 'All The Small Things'. To me, they're considered one of the greatest bands that ever existed because they're music was amazing from start to finish. Blink-182 is the only band that I've actually spent a lot of money on to get most of their albums (I own 5 of them). They're worthy enough for me to spend my money instead of just downloading them. They're one of the only bands that I've never grown tired of, because their songs don't all sound the same, and they can all create a different mood. Some bands can only create one type of sound or emotion, where as Blink-182 was able to cover several. If a song can make a person go from being the saddest or angriest kid in the world to being in a better mood, then they deserve to be recognized.

Most of their songs are amazing, but a couple of the songs that I like to listen to are:

-'Please Tell Me Why'

-'All the Small Things'

-'What's My Age Again?'

The Big Lebowski

In 'The Big Lebowski', The Dude and The Big Lebowski are the similar, but they're also different in several ways. They are the same because in way, neither one of them is very successful. The Dude lives in a rundown apartment without very many possesions. He buys what he needs, and that's it. The Big Labowski may live in a fancy house with a lot of stuff he doesn't need, but the only reason he has it is because of his daughter. If it wasn't for her, he'd probably be worse off than The Dude. They are also similar in the way that women are dominant in their lives. The Dude doesn't have the greatest luck with girls, and The Big Labowski depends on his daughter to survive with a good status.

Aswell as having a few similarities, they've also got their differences. The Big Labowski wants as much as he can get, and is determined to keep his good status. The Dude is happy with the way his life is going, and doesn't really care about much. He's more laid back and isn't determined to do anything with himself.

READ ME

First impressions are important, but they can always change. At first, I thought the movie was going to be boring, and that the acting wouldn’t be that great since it was an older movie. But I was wrong. For an old black and white movie, I thought it was actually pretty good. Probably not something that I would have picked out on my own, but I didn’t mind watching it either. Obviously compared to the movies we have today it may not seem that great, but the fact that it’s closer to when film first started and special effects haven’t been invented yet, they did a great job. I can understand why people say it’s masterpiece, because for one of the first movies to ever be created and nothing to compare it to at the time, they made real life come to a screen and made it relatively believable. Some scenes, like the one when Charlie Kane and Susan were fighting, wasn’t as realistic as if it were to actually happen in real life. For example, if he were to actually hit her that hard, I don’t think she’d LOOK as happy as she did. It sounded like it would have hurt, and her eyes probably would have watered, even if it was just a little bit. Also, if he didn’t want her to leave as bad as he did, when trying to convince her to say I think there would have been more emotion than what was showed when trying to get her to stay. But as I said, film was relatively new and with not many other films to compare it too, and most actors probably didn’t have much training, the directors probably weren’t as picky or weren’t as sure what to look for like they do when making films today. So for a movie that I was sure was going to be boring, I’m pretty impressed.

One.

I believe that media is extremely important in my life. Besides the fact that I don't go a single day without some type of media, I'm constantly influenced by it. Whether it's a T.V. show, a magazine or the music I listen to everyday, I can't imagine my life without it.

Three types of media that I feel the most passionately about would be music, T.V. and magazines. Music being the most important. Music is the most important type of media in my life for more than just one reason, but mainly because it's something that I have complete control over, and no other person's opinion really matters. It can be an escape when you're upset, or just a comfort when you're happy, and you can have say as to what kind of music can do that for you without worrying about what others have to say. I'm also a huge fan of magazines. Mainly Cosmo. It's something to do when you're bored, and actually has a lot of info on things that could help you in the future (For example, hair care information, articles on peer pressure, or how to be healthy, and even sex tips!). It's education and entertainment all in one. Hahahahah. T.V. is also something I enjoy, and probably for the same reasons as most people. Entertainment, and sometimes educational. But mostly entertainment. It gives you something to do when you're bored, and it also is something that can be used to connect with others. It can be something that brings people together, for example: getting together every Thursday to watch Survivor. It brings people together as well as entertaining them.

For the most part, I enjoy all of the new technology that's been coming out. I think that a lot of it is unnecessary, but I like it. I don't have all of the latest things, and I doubt I'll ever really get into most of it, but I do think that it can be very useful, especially with certain jobs or for doing some types of projects. Besides the fact that I think a lot of things are unnecessary, I don't really dislike any of it. I use media mainly for entertainment, but I also use it for school. Searching for things on Google is a lot easier than going to the library and looking through a million books before finding the one piece of information you need , though going to the library can also be useful in ways that the Internet can't be.

The way teenagers are portrayed in the media can either be dead on, or completely ridiculous. I do agree that a lot of teenagers do crazy things, and have bad reputations, but I don't agree with putting a label on all teens and saying that they're all bad, or all good. Teenagers are probably the most opinionated, or at least the most outspoken people in our culture, and if they're feeling something, you'll know about it. Some shows, for example 'The Secret Life of the American Teenager' shows many examples of situations that many teens are facing, and they don't really over dramatize it. But some shows like 'Gossip Girl' may only show you things that are full of drama, and make teenagers look like irresponsible hooligans. Teenagers can be completely different others, and shouldn't be labeled as the same.
